A Gift
November 29, 2025- January 10, 2026
Artists: Amanda Krantz, Anusman, Bolin, Chuhua Zhang, Gudveig Berger Walthinsen, Heidi Øiseth, Hilde Mæhlum, Janine Magelssen, Jing Qu, Lillian Tørlen, Morten Magnus, Olav Herman-Hansen, Shuangshuang Xu, Wenjing Wen, Wenkai Xu, Xiao Peng, Xueting Yang, Ziyan Le, and Yan Huang.
The most influential study of “the gift” in the 20th century comes from the French sociologist Marcel Mauss and his seminal work The Gift. Mauss suggests that a gift creates a bond between people—an invisible thread of relations that moves quietly between us, gently tying us together.
This is snø galleri’s first group exhibition, featuring 19 artists from Norway and China. The exhibition spans two holidays traditionally associated with “giving” and “renewal” — Christmas and the New Year. Within the space, some works are quiet, some heartfelt, some distant, others alive with movement. They hold the artists’ emotions, and they quietly keep time.
We hope that these 36 works may gather into a gentle, welcoming space, and that through this constellation of distinct yet quietly echoing pieces, we might find a way to connect with you, who have come to meet them.
