Xu Shuangshuang is a Chinese visual artist who received her bachelor’s degree from the Central Academy of Fine Arts. She studied at the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University as an exchange student and received traditional celadon training through a master-apprentice approach. Working with clay and other natural materials, her practice spans sculpture, installation, and performance art.

Her practice explores the changing relationship between people and the world around them, with a focus on how emotions, memories, and lived experiences take shape and settle over time. Materials can be reshaped, but experiences that have already taken place can never be fully restored. Working between change and irreversibility, she explores how experiences are perceived and understood, and how the spiritual dimensions of material can take on new meaning in a contemporary context.
